Matcha has been enjoyed for centuries for its vibrant color, earthy flavor, and steady energy boost. Unlike coffee, which can create quick spikes and crashes, matcha provides a gentler lift thanks to its combination of caffeine and the amino acid L-theanine. When paired with creamy milk and the bright sweetness of raspberries, it becomes a refreshing drink that feels both energizing and indulgent.
This iced raspberry matcha actually came from my daughter Tuula. One afternoon she decided to experiment in the kitchen and surprised the whole family with these beautiful layered drinks. She swirled raspberry jam along the glass, whisked up some matcha, and before we knew it everyone in the house had a glass in their hand. It looked like something you would order at a café, but it came straight from our own kitchen.
The raspberry jam creates a gorgeous swirl and adds a naturally sweet, slightly tart flavor that balances the grassy notes of matcha. Paired with creamy raw milk, it becomes a simple drink that feels special enough for a slow morning or a refreshing afternoon pick-me-up.
